Stone Steps Beach in Encinitas - Leucadia Mercantile

A California shop and journal.

Leucadia

Leucadia is a neighborhood on the old Highway 101, just north of San Diego. Independent restaurants, local shops, artists, surfers. The kind of place that resists being anything other than what it is.

The name comes from the Greek — leukos, meaning bright or white — chosen by English settlers in the 1880s who gave the streets names like Vulcan, Neptune, and Olympus. Leucadia translates loosely as a place of refuge. It still does.

What you’ll find here

Illustrated tees, hats, and goods designed in California — drawn from the surf breaks, towns, and coastlines of the West Coast and Baja. Quality leather dog leashes and collars built for daily use. Tote bags and accessories chosen because they hold up.

The Dog Edit is our selection of gear for dogs and the people who walk them. A section of the shop, not the whole shop — though dogs are very welcome.
